NOVICE PROGRAM
Novice Program (Adult)
The Novice Program is designed for first-year rowers who have completed the Learn-to-Row Level 1 and Level 2 courses and are ready to take the next step in their rowing journey. The program is also a great fit for experienced rowers who have been away from the sport for a while and are looking to get back on the water, rebuild their skills and reconnect with rowing.
The program runs from October 1 to September 30, providing 12 months of coached training, development and opportunities to row with a crew. Throughout the year, participants work on developing their rowing technique, fitness and boat-handling skills while gaining experience in both sweep rowing and sculling.
As rowers progress, they are introduced to smaller boats, race preparation and competitive racing, with opportunities to represent the club at local and regional regattas. Whether you're interested in trying your first race or looking to build a foundation for continued competitive rowing, the Novice Program provides a supportive environment to develop your skills and confidence on the water.
Our goal is to develop well-rounded, competent rowers who are comfortable rowing both sweep and sculling boats, understand the fundamentals of training and racing, and have the opportunity to experience the excitement of competition at regattas.
